Dear pen pal who ended up becoming a very dear, dear friend to me. Carmen Elixabeth Juarez was sadly lost to suicide at age 29 on March 28, 2011 only two weeks after celebrating her 29th birthday. She was alone and terribly unhappy and isolated in a new apartment in San Luis Obispo, California near the beach.

Carmen Elizabeth Juraez was born on March 12, 1982. Carmen loved making beautiful handcrafted cards and stationary, scrapbooking, stamp collecting (I sent her some of her greatest and most unique stamps I am proud to say), watching The Hills, hip-hop music, tweety bird, Bratz dolls, stickers, writing to her numerous pen pals, dancing, going to the beach quite often, having fun and being a joy and inspiration to others. Carmen whom had the looks of a fashion model and an even bigger heart; graduated from Coast Union High School, Class of 2001.

Carmen lost her two beloved brothers at the tender age of 16. Anthony Robert Juarez, 18, and Michael Anthony Juarez, 27, were both shot fatally on October 27, 1998 by gang members who entered her family's clothing store and shot them for no reason. That fact always made the murders feel even more senseless to Carmen.

From that day on, Carmen Elizabeth Juarez' life would never be the same. This horrible event caused her to have PTSD problems and she developed a very deep depression due to the loss of both of her brothers.

For many years, justice seemed to elude the killers who caused such tragedy to the Juarez family, but finally on Apr 17, 2006, Justice was served and the killers received life in prison. Thankfully Carmen did get to see these two horrible men face the Criminal justice system.

Unfortunately, tragedy struck again when Carmen Elizabeth Juzarez passed on March 28, 2011 in Cayucos, California. My dear friend wanted to escape all of the pain and heartbreakingly turned to suicide. In her last letter she sounded very very sad and seemed to have lost all hope. Carmen was not online and she had moved recently, so I had no phone number for her. I wrote her a letter immediately telling her to please hang on, that we could get through this together. Carmen was very despondent over the murders of her 2 brothers and more recently suffered the indignity of a boyfriend cheating on her with an 18 year old. She hung on for years, but the terrible act her fiancee committed was just too much to take.

I know my beautiful, kind, dear, young friend Carmen now dwells in the house of the Lord in Heaven.
