SHREVEPORT, LA - Graveside services celebrating the life of Harry Von Einem, Sr., 93, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Forest Park Cemetery on St. Vincent Avenue. Officiating will be Dr. Larry Williams.
Harry was born in Chicago, IL on July 17, 1918 and passed away on June 13, 2012 in Tyler, TX. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Billie.
He is survived by his daughter, Suzie Williams; son, Harry "Von" Von Einem, Jr. and wife, Melody; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Harry proudly served his country during World War II in the 11th Airborne from January 1940 until December 1946. Major Von Einem fought in the 674th Artillery in the Philippines, New Guinea, and in Okinawa, Japan receiving the Silver Star and the Purple Heart. He ended his career in the Army Reserves. Harry was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church for more than sixty years, singing in the choir and serving as a deacon. He retired from Sears Roebuck & Co. following twenty-five years of service. Harry was deeply loved by his family and will be missed by many.
