Carl William Verro was my birth father. He was the son of Herman and Goldie May (Turner) Verro. He was married to Mary Louise (Rucker) on Dec. 4, 1964. They were together until dad passed away. They raised 4 children together.

Prior to that he was married to my birth mother Lila Rae (Lane) Verro. To their union 4 children was born Carla 1952, Ann 1953, Carl 1954, & Arthur 1958. I last saw him when I was in the hospital with pneumonia soon after his mother died. I saw him again when I was at his sister's house when I was 17.

We were taken from our birth mother for abuse. The Judge gave dad 6 months to get a job and a housekeeper in order to keep us. He did not do it so he never got custody of us. A short time later dad signed the papers so we could be adopted.

Dad loved dogs, he loved to laugh and make jokes. My sister Carla said he loved M&M's candy and fudge and had to have his candy often.

Dad was in the US Army during World War II as a Ranger. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star. Dad was a pipe fitter for the Chessie System railroad.

He was proceeded in death by his mom and dad, his brother Kenneth Titler, sister Elsie, his step son David, and his step daughter Roberta (Bobbie), his birth son Carl, and son-in law Dennis.

Surviving is his wife Mary. Also surviving are his two wonderful sisters and their wonderful husbands' aunt Elnora and her husband Lex, and aunt Anna and her husband Doc whom I love very much. His step daughter Mary (Marty), and step son Buzz are still living. Also 3 of his birth children are still living Carla (Dennis) Lickly, Ann (Clair) Howard, and Arthur Bischoff.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Smith & Brown Funeral Home in Hicksville, Ohio. Burial will be in Newville Cemetery in Newville.
