MARY ADELIA WELCH
August 5, 1870 ~ May 1, 1930

Mary Adelia Morton was born August 5, 1870 in Dardanelle, Arkansas (Yell County), daughter of Charles Francis Morton (1846-1897) and Mary Gilliam Wynne (1842-1899).

Mary married Charles Arthur Welch who was born March 7, 1871 in Fort Smith, Arkansas (Sebastian County), son of William Anderson Welch (1836-1915) and Alice Walner (1838-1888).

Mary and Charles ultimately would have nine children: Joseph Maxey Welch (1890-1906); Samuel Earl Welch (1892-1969); Francis Paul Welch (1895-1899); Fitzhugh Lee Welch (1898-1966); Lucile Matilda Welch (1901-1905); Edgar Warren Welch (1902-1908); Daniel Morton Welch (1906-1979); Mable Welch-Amend (1908-1999); and Ruth Irene Welch-Smith (1911-2006).

Charles died March 21, 1927 in Ardmore, Oklahoma (Carter County) and was buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Antlers, Oklahoma (Pushmataha County). Mary died May 1, 1930 in Paris, Texas (Lamar County) and was buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Antlers beside her husband.

MRS. C. A. WELCH WAS BURIED FRIDAY

Mrs. C. A. Welch, 59, who died at the Sanitarium of Paris Thursday morning of last week, was buried at Antlers Friday afternoon.

Burial took place at the I. O. O. F. cemetery following the funeral services at the First Presbyterian church at Antlers. Dr. E. Brantley, pastor of the church, officiated at the service.

Mrs. Welch was born at Dardenelle, Arkansas, August 5, 1870. She was married to C. A. Welch and to this union five children were born, all of whom are living and who attended the services.

Mrs. Welch's influence will long be felt in the community in which she lived for so many years. Friends by the hundreds attended the last rites Friday paying their last respects to their friend and to mourn with the members of the bereaved family.

Surviving relatives are two daughters, Mrs. Noble Amend and Miss Ruth Welch, of Antlers; three sons, Earl, and Lee, of Antlers, and Dan, of Hugo; one sister, Mrs. J. R. Chowning, of Hominy, Oklahoma, and one brother, George Morton, of Ozark, Arkansas.
