Teen seriously injured in City Heights shooting.

The Shooting happened in the 4200 block of Poplar Street, police say.

SAN DIEGO -- A shooting near City Heights early Sunday left a 17-year-old boy hospitalized in grave condition, San Diego Police said.

Johnny Pugh was shot about 12:05 a.m. as he was walking home in the 4200 block of Poplar Street, near Snowdrop Street, according to San Diego police Lt. Kevin Rooney.

Officers were called out after shots were heard and found the victim down in the middle of the street with gunshot wound, Rooney said.

He was taken to a hospital where he was lited in grave condition, Rooney said.

Rooney said there were no identified witnesses to the shooting and there was no suspect description to share.

The victim had been identified, buth police withheld his name pending complete family notification, Rooney said.

"OBITUARY"

Johnny entered this life on December 8, 1994 in San Diego, California and entered into rest on May 20, 2012 at the age of 17 years in San Diego, California.

He will be deeply missed by his father Johnny Pugh, mother Joy D. Pugh, sister Autumn J. Pugh, paternal grandmother Eva N. Pugh, maternal grandmother Marie Buchanan, maternal grandfather Walter Joy Dean Pierce, extended family and friends.

Johnny lived his life years in the San Diego area.

Johnny enjoyed many activities. Some of those were sports, acting, and working out. He also cherished time with family and friends. There were always pets in the home which he grew close to over the years. Fun was very important to Johnny.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, May, 27, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Grace Methodist Church, 3040 Fairmont Ave., San DIego, California. Inurnment will be private.
