F. George Moeglein, 74, pioneer merchant and prominent citizen of Little Falls, died at St. Gabriel's hospital this morning at 6 o'clock, succumbing to dropsy and heart trouble after an illness of two years. He had been a patient at the hospital for the past six weeks. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 9 o'clock at the Sacred Heart church, Rev. J.J. Wessendorf officiating, and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Born in Madison, Wis., May 22, 1855, Mr. Moeglein spent his early manhood there. On March 5, 1877, he was united in marriage to Christina Schmidt at Monroe, Wis. They resided there for four years and then moved to Richland Center.
Came Here In 1883
Two years later, in 1883, they moved to Little Falls. Shortly after their arrival here Mr. Moeglein purchased the building on First street southeast, which still houses the Moeglein market, and opened the business there the same year. Mr. Moeglein continued in the business until nine years ago when he turned the market over to his sons.
Mr. Moeglein became president of the Merchants State Bank here in 1923 but retired from the banking business when the bank merged with the American Savings and Trust company five years ago.
