The Cumberland Times, Sunday 8 May 2005 "Lawrence A Barry FROSTBURG - Lawrence A. Barry, 96, of Frostburg, died Saturday, May 7, 2005, at Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing. Born May 23, 1908, in Eckhart, he was the son of the late James and Clara (Smith) Barry. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Monica (Rooney) Barry; one son, Lawrence M. Barry; eight brothers, John, Jay, William, Leo, Joseph, DeSales, Charles and George; and two sisters, Loretta and Mary. He was retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Company. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Council 1442, life member of Frostburg Elks, Frostburg Senior Citizens, and the Musicians Union. He and his family organized the Barry Dance Orchestra during the 1940's. Surviving are one son, Robert F. Barry and wife Linda, Frostburg; one daughter-in-law, B. Carol Barry, Cumberland; four grandchildren, Krista McMorrow, Cumberland, Carla Barry, Damascus, Brian Barry, Roaring Gap, N.C. and Patrick Barry, Klamuth Falls, Ore.; sister-in-law, Helen Barry, resident of St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Home; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Wake Service will be held at 3:45 p.m. and Knights of Columbus Council 1442 will conduct a service at 8:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev Douglas A. Kenney as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery."
