Tips for others researching Pliny:
* of his 7 US Censuses (1860-1930), two of them (1860 and 1880) mistakenly identify him as female
* his remaining US Censuses (1870, 1900, 1910, 1920 and 1930), as well as his Death Certificate, all identify him as male
* for their entire lives, both Pliny, and his sister, Katie Lee, appear on every census with their parents and/or other siblings (Katie Lee appears on her final Census in 1940 as sole head of household)
