ROBERTS — Jean E. Kief, 85, of Roberts, died at 3:10 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at the Heartland Healthcare Nursing Home in Paxton.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Congregational Christian Church in Roberts with the Rev. Tom Jones officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be held at a later date in Lyman Township Cemetery. Lamb-Young Funeral Home in Roberts is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Kief was born Oct. 11, 1928, in Melvin, a daughter of Dwight and Maude (Stevens) Milligan. She married Lyle J. Kief on April 6, 1947. He died June 3, 1987.
Surviving are two sons, David Kief of Roberts and Stanley (Kellie) Kief of Roberts; two daughters, Peggy (Rick) Johannsen of Pekin and Julie Kief of Pennsylvania; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ed Milligan of Florida; and two sisters, Shirley Shambrook of Gibson City and Marlene Royal of Gibson City.
She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas; two brothers; and two sisters.
Mrs. Kief worked at the Gibson Annex for 23 years. She was a member of the Congregational Christian Church. She loved bird watching.
Memorials may be made to the Roberts-Melvin Fire Department, Congregational Christian Church, or a charity of the donor's choice.
