BARRE TOWN - Norma E. Bashaw, 84, died June 12, 2012, at Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin.

BARRE TOWN - Norma Edith Bashaw, 84, of the Quarry Hill Apartments, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin. Her family was at her bedside.

Born Aug. 11, 1927, in Barre City, she was the daughter of Edward and Mae (Martell) Copping. She had attended Spaulding High School.

On April 18, 1947, she married Grant Douglas Bashaw in Barre City, and they made their home on Perrin Street. They later divorced.

She was a longtime homemaker and had been a caregiver and nurse's aide.

Card playing, "running the roads" and her family were her special interests.

Survivors include her two daughters, Kathleen Kusiak and her husband, Richard, of Barre Town, and Pamela Fadden and her companion, Clay Britch, of Essex Junction; and four sons, Douglas Bashaw and his wife, Sherri, of Plano, Texas, Alan Bashaw, of Minot, N.D., Mark Bashaw and his wife, Shawn, of Wasilla, Alaska, and Timothy Bashaw and his companion, Kathy Gilbert, of Barre City; as well as eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; also surviving are two sisters, Elva Martin and Ramona Cookson; and two brothers, Clayton Copping and Paul Copping; and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her daughter Paula Venner; and brother Roland Copping.

Her committal service will be held Saturday, June 16, 2012, at 3 p.m. in the Hope Cemetery in Barre.

Friends may call at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre, on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

GRANITEVILLE - The committal service and graveside celebration for Norma E. Bashaw of the Quarry Hill Apartments was held Saturday, June 16, 2012, at 3 p.m. in the Hope Cemetery in Barre. She died June 12, 2012, at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin.

Her son, Douglas Bashaw, led the internment ceremony, offering favorite readings and poems of his mother as well as reading remembrances from her daughters Kathleen Kusiak and Pamela Fadden and sons Alan, Mark and Timothy Bashaw.

The bearers were her sons Douglas, Mark, and Timothy Bashaw and son-in-law Richard Kusiak.

Fellowship and refreshments followed at the Hilltop Restaurant in Barre Town.

The Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre was in charge of the arrangements.
