My Grand Aunt Katarzyna Augustyn was born in 1894 in Poland, the daughter of Wojciech Albert Augustyn and Matrona Wilczynska. On 22 November 1910 she married Nicholas Holodiuk (Americanized later to Hobock) in Poland and they immigrated to America shortly afterward. They initially settled in Braddock, PA, but moved to Youngstown, Mahoning County, OH. Son George Holodiuk was born there in 1913 but lived only two days, dying of pneumonia. Daughter Helen was born in 1914. Tragically Katarzyna died in about 1915 in Mahoning County, OH, at age 21, reasons currently unknown, possibly in child birth. No record of her death can currently be found, but her burial is in Calvary Cemetery with her infant son George. Daughter Helen at age 2 was placed with family friends and was raised by them. Her relationship with her father Nick was strained. Nick remarried to Anna Katz in 1916 in Ohio, but she filed for divorce from Nick in 1920 and they had no children together.
