Earl E. Matheson, 78, of Franklin, Kansas, passed away at his home of a sudden illness. He had been living with his son the past few years.
Son of John and Pearl Crowder Matheson.
He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army Air Corps. He received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He was a prisoner of war twice, shot down during bombing raids in a B-17, and was in the 1000 Mile Death March in Germany.
He married Jennie D. Laizure on Sept. 30, 1948, at Fairfield, California. She preceded him in death on Oct. 20, 1995.
