Barraclough, Edna L. HARRIS 1902-1995

EMPORIA -Edna L. Barraclough, 92, Emporia, died Monday, March 13, 1995.

She was born May 5, 1902, in Osage City, the daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth Harris. She was a graduate of the Osage City High School in 1920, and attended the Emporia State University. She taught school for a brief time after that. She had later worked as a PBX operator for the AT&SF Railroad until she retired.

Mrs. Barraclough was a member of the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees, the Transportation Union (UTU), Miriam Chapter No. 14, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, all, in Emporia. She had also been nominated as the Beta Sigma PI woman of the year.

She was married to William A. Martin on Feb. 14, 1921. He died Nov. 25, 1943. She later was married to Clyde J. Barraclough on Jan. 27, 1949, at Emporia. He survives. She was preceded in death by two sons, William G. Martin, Feb. 4, 1991, and Robert H. Martin Oct. 17, 1976.

Survivors include one son, Donald W. Martin, Paris France; two step-daughters, Juanita Ferrell, Bixby, Okla., and Loeta Tisdale, Norfolk, VA.; one sister, Jane Snyder, Bennington; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Emporia. Interment will be at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery at Emporia, under the direction of the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
