Clarence Edward 'Clyde' Martin was born June 12, 1888 in Mount Ida, Arkansas (Montgomery County), son of Warren Woodson Martin (1845-1909) and Mary Ann 'Mollie' Moody (1855-1930). Clarence later legally changed his name to Clyde Edward Morton.

The 1900 Federal Census for South Fork, Arkansas (Montgomery County) shows Clarence E. Martin, age 11, born June 1888 in Arkansas; living with his father, Warren Woodson Martin, age 55, born March 1845 in Ireland; and his mother, Mary A., age 45, born February 1855 in Missouri. Also living in the household were Clarence's siblings: Annie E. Martin, age 16, born September 1883; Charles W. Martin, age 14, born February 1886; and Mac Martin, age 7, born November 1892; all born in Arkansas.

The Missouri Marriage Records show that Clarence Edward Martin, age 25, married Olga Agnes Mannis, age 23, on October 31, 1910 in Kansas City, Missouri (Jackson County).

The World War II Draft Registration Cards show that Clyde Edward Morton registered for the draft. He gave his birthdate as June 12, 1886; his birthplace as Montgomery County, Arkansas; and his age as 56. He stated that he lived at that time in Cincinatti, Ohio and that he was working for the Billboard Publishing House.

The U.S. Social Security Death Index shows that Clyde Morton, born June 12, 1888, died August 1975, and that his final residence shown on their records was Norman, Arkansas (Montgomery County).
