Noverto Herrera, age 89, a resident of Las Vegas, N.M., and former resident of Tecolote, N.M., passed away on Thursday, Feb.21, 2008, at his home.
He was born in Tecolote, N.M., on Oct. 11, 1918, to the late Cleofes Herrera and Emohenes Baca Herrera. He was united in marriage to the late Josie Herrera.
He retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad where he was employed as a Crew Leader. He loved to go to the Flea Market and collect tools.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Cleofes and Emohenes Herrera; wife Josie Herrera and son Johnny Herrera
He is survived by his daughters: Flora Solano and husband Ray of Commerce, Calif. and Helen Lujan and husband Sal of Las Vegas, N.M.; son: Noverto Herrera Jr.and wife Michelle of Sacramento, ; grandchildren: Martin Solano and wife Jeannet Solano of Brighton, Colo., Johnny Solano, Ray Solano and Gina Solano all of Denver, Ricky Solano of Costilla, N.M., Peggy DeJesus and Fianc Mike Rodriguez of Las Vegas, N.M., John Lujan and wife Paula of Las Vegas, N.M., Bundy Martinez of Albuquerque and Eric Herrera and wife Felicia of Sacramento; great-grandchildren: 17 great-great-grandchildren: four brothers: Joe Herrera and wife Andy of Las Vegas, N.M. and Teofilo Chavez and wife Maria of Tecolote; sisters: Andalecia Pacheco of Tecolote, Angie Durward of Albuquerque, Jane Pacheco and husband Lorenzo of Tecolote and Viola Trujillo and husband Joe of Albuquerque; numerous: nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Rosary devotional services will be conducted on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, N.M. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, with Father George V. Salazar serving as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Tecolote Cemetery in Tecolote, with the following serving as casket bearers: Johnny Solano, Ray Solano, Eric Herrera, John Lujan, Mike Rodriguez and Manuel Vigil.
