Daughter of D. D. Warlick and Molly Unknown/Warlick. She was the youngest of six children. Her father was a circuit-riding preacher. She taught at Cotulla, Texas before marrying Vincent Carr on 12/30/1917 in Ladonia, Texas.

Ruth attended college at Henderson-Brown College in Arkadelphia. She obtained a music degree in 1914 and taught one year of college. She often went with her father to play the peano at his circuit churches.

They had four children:
Vincent Waggoner Car, Marvin Warlick Carr, Robert Lonzo Carr and Mary Virginia Carr.

Ruth had Alzheimers for nine long years. She died two years after her husband, Vincent. He is buried beside him at Resthaven cemetery in Lubbock, Texas.
