She married John D. Lang on Oct. 17, 1939, in Ellis. He preceded her in death April 3, 1997.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, the Ladies Guild of the church, Altar Society Christian Mothers, all of Hays, and the Daughters of Isabella of Ellis.
Survivors include a son, LeRoy Lang and wife, Pat, Hays; five daughters, Mary Jane Pfannenstiel and husband, Vernon, Hays, Rose Brungardt and husband, Charles, Richardson, Texas, Betty Mermis and husband, Bill, and Linda Mermis and husband, Howard, all of Overland Park, and Karen Amrein and husband, Ron, Ellis; a brother, Clarence Flax, Dodge City; three step-brothers, Alfred Flax, WaKeeney, Lawrence Flax, Salina, and Albert Flax Jr., Ellis; a sister, Teresa Gnad, Hays; three step-sisters, Anna Pfeifer, WaKeeney, Agnes Burns and Freda Dietz, both of Ellis; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Joe Flax, William Flax, Tony Flax, Phillip Flax and John Flax; a sister, Rosie Burns, and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, Hays; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, both at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine. A combined Altar Society Christian Mothers/Perpetual Adorers rosary will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. An Ellis Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a vigil at 7 p.m., both at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to St. Nicholas Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
