Matilda's maiden name could have been Mathew, Matthew or Matthews. On her marriage document to William Hargis she is listed as Matilda C. Mathew. On her marriage document to Jacob Milslagle she is listed as Matilda Matthew daughter of S. D. and Elizabeth (Westbrook) Matthews (on another marriage document to Jacob she is listed as Mrs. Matilda C. Hargis).
Matilda first married William Hargis Dec. 24, 1876 in Christian County, Illinois. They had a son Arthur Oliver who was born Sept. 5, 1877 in Illinois.
William died in 1894. In 1917 she married Jacob Marion Milslagle.

Birth year has been changed from 1856 to 1854 and first name from Matilda to Mathilda based on information listed on her grave marker. Information states last name was Hargis however since she was last married to Jacob Milslagle am leaving her name as Milslagle.
