Adoph Werner lived with his family in the city of San Francisco making a living as a Carpenter. They lived at the center of the 1906 earthquake. His mother told the family their sons helped in the aftermath to clear rubble, and put out fires. He either worked for the Fire Department at that time or joined shortly thereafter. His Mother said Adolf's health declined thereafter and he died by November 1908.
