Vincent- Jimmy as he was known- enlisted in the US Army on 26 Nov 1940. During WWII Vincent served as a tank commander of an M4 Sherman with Co. G, 41st Armored Infantry Regiment, 2nd Armored Division. On January 3, 1945 near Houffalize, Belgiam S/Sgt. Vincent Lancellotti, selective service #32055079, was killed in action during the height of the Battle of the Bulge. His column came under artillery fire which halted their advance. His tank was hit, so he ordered his men out of the tank and to take cover. Wounded by the concussion from the blast of the artillery round that hit his tank, his crewmen attempted to take him to an aid station, but he died en route. Originally interred in an American military cemetery in Europe, at his parents' request he was brought home and was reburied in Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City on 6 NOV 1947. Vincent was engaged to be married when he came home. Instead he rests in peace beside his mother and father, sister and brothers.
His WWII decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal (w/5 battle stars and bronze arrowhead devise for the landing at Sicily), the American Defense Medal, American Campaign Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, and the Combat Infantryman's Badge.
Also buried in this plot are: Helen (d.12/1933),Olympia (d. 3/1957),Thomas (Carmine) (d.5/1983), Guiseppe (d. 1964), and Martha (d. 8/2014).
