DEATH OF MRS. JOHNSON
Mrs. Eliza Johnson, one of the oldest residents of Wapello county and a highly esteemed woman; died Sunday night at 9:20 O'Clock at her home on 556 West Mechanic Street where she resided for the last thirty-four years.
She was 89 years of age and had resided in Ottumwa forty seven years.Mrs. Johnson was born in County Galaway, Ireland December 1816 and came to New York City when quite young. After a few years residence in that city she went to Chicago and came to Ottumwa in 1857. Her husband Michael Greeley died about forty-one years ago and a few years later she was united in marriage with John Johnson.
She is survived by her husband and five children; Sister Mary Bonifice of Evanston, ILL; formerly of the Visitation Sisters in that city, Mark Greeley and John Greeley of this city, and Thomas Greeley of Omaha.
FAITHFUL CHRISTIAN
Mrs. Johnson was a faithful member of the Catholic church all her life, a loving mother and was held in the highest regard by hosts of friends.
The funeral service will be conducted from St. Mary's Catholic church Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock. Rev. F.W. Hoppman officiating. Internment will be made in Calvary cemetery.
She married John Johnson in 1891.
