READFIELD - Shawn Cain, 9, died Thursday morning in a fire at his home in Readfield.

He was born in Gardiner, March 16, 1971, the son of Hartley Hewett and Charlene McLaughlin Cain.

He attended Readfield Elementary School. he was a member of the Son of the Legion and the Cub Scouts of America.

He is survived by his mother of Readfield, maternal grandmother, Mrs. Thersea Wallace of Monmouth; maternal grandfather, Paul McLaughlin of Winthrip; maternal great-grandparents, Philip and Lillian McLaughlin of Augusta, and several aunts and uncles.

Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, 26Bowdoin St., Winthrop.
