CUMBERLAND - Mary Virginia Acre, 87, formerly of Baltimore Pike, Cumberland, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Los Alamitos Medical Center in Los Alamitos, Calif. Born April 29, 1912, in Newburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Edward Louis Shafferman and the late Agnes Margaret (Horchler) Shafferman. She also was preceded in death by her husband, the late Harry R. Acre; and four brothers, Lawrence, J. Louis, Fred and Arthur (Jack) Shafferman. Mrs. Acre was a retired executive secretary for the Celanese Corporation. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Allegany Genealogical Society. Surviving are two daughters, Jacqueline Tarantino and husband Anthony G., Los Alamitos, Calif., and Belinda Acre, Arlington, Va.; and two grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John J. Duffus officiating.
