Thomas Dunphey (Dumphey) came to Detroit Michigan from Canada with his parents when he was seven years old. When he was fourteen, his family moved to Dundee, Mi.
Thomas' father was Thomas E. Dumphey (aka Dunphey) born in Ireland and his mother was Margaret Rankin Dumphey, born in New Hampshire.
Thomas enlisted in the Third Michigan Calvary in 1861, serving his country until April 1862. He again, enlisted in September, 1864, and served until the end of the war. He received an honorable discharge.
He had nine brothers and sisters, and was the last one to pass away. He leaves his widow, Evaline; a step-daughter of Britton, Mi; and a sister-in-law and nephew of Rea; and a host of friends and comrades to mourn his passing.
Thomas Dunphey was 76 years, 7 months, and 26 days old when he left this world to join the host of realms above.
The funeral was held at the home west of town on March 25, 1911, with the Rev. H.H. Cheney officiating. The Post No. 10 of Dundee, Mi. attended his service. Burial was in LaSalle, Mi.
