Gene Ritter
AMORY – Robert Eugene “Gene” Ritter Sr., 60, died Monday July 5, 2004, at his residence in Amory after a short illness. He was born July 15, 1943, in the Bigbee community of Monroe County to Laura Louise Wardlaw Ritter and the late Ollie Judson Ritter. He had lived in Amory most of his life. He was a graduate of Amory High School, class of 1961. He married Willie Jean Gaines, who preceded him in death in 2001. He was an employee of the Frisco/B&N Railroad as a machinist until his retirement. He was a former member of the Mississippi National Guard and a member of the J.A. Mayfield Masonic Lodge No. 165 in Amory. He was a Baptist. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home of Amory with Bro. Guy Norman Parker officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery with Masonic Rites.
Survivors include one son, Robert Eugene Ritter Jr. of Amory; his mother, Laura Louise Ritter of Amory; one sister, Mary Frances Ritter Harlow of Amory; two grandchildren, Victoria Nicole Ritter and Thomas Andrew Ritter.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Herbert Ray Ritter.
Pallbearers will be John Ritter, John Gann, Junior Dean, Gerald Rollins, Brian Rollins and Wayne Conwill. Honorary pallbearers will be Masons.
Visitation will continue today at the funeral home until service time.
