VALDESE — Mrs. Martha Irene Skidmore Kaylor, 83, of Morganton, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, while at Grace Hospital.
She was born Jan. 29, 1923, in Mecklenburg County to the late Ed Skidmore and Elizabeth Whisnant Skidmore.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Kaylor; four brothers, Vinton, James and Andrew Skidmore and Raymond Brown; and two sisters, Annie Teeter and Marie Brown Yerton. She was an active member of the Valdese First Baptist Church, where she served as a choir member and Sunday school teacher. She was a furniture decorator at Drexel for more than 33 years.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory a son, Steve Kaylor and wife, Kathy, of Shelby; a daughter, Rhonda Kaylor Rhyne and husband, Ralph, of Valdese; and a sister-in-law, Georgia Skidmore of Valdese. She will also be remembered by her grandchildren, Scott and Kevin Buchanan, Robert and James Kaylor and Rebekah Shealy and husband, Matt; a great-granddaughter, Miranda Shealy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Valdese First Baptist Church Parlor.
