William "Pick" Perkins Jr., A retired pipe fitter with Shaw SS&S Fabricators, he died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at 2 a.m. at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City. He was 72 and a resident and native of Port Allen.
Visiting at Hall's Celebration Center, 9348 Scenic Highway. Religious service at New Mount Olive Baptist Church, Port Allen, conducted by Michael Byrd, pastor. Interment in Christ Baptist Cemetery.
Survived by his wife, Bertha O'Conner Perkins; four daughters, Regina Paul and husband Mark Sr., Constance Isaac and husband Gerald Sr., and Charlotte and Juanita Perkins; two sons, William Perkins III and wife Carlette, and Michael Perkins;
two sisters, Willie Mae Matthews and-Joyce Perkins; five brothers, Roy Watkins and wife Willie Mae, Manuel Perkins and wife Lena, Leonard Perkins , Ernest Perkins and wife Sarah, and Calvin Perkins and wife Claudia; brother-in-law, John O'Conner;
nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, William Perkins Sr. and Evelyn Perkins; four sisters; a brother; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lettie and Isaac O'Conner; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law.
