LaVern Taylor Thurston Hatch, 70, died on Tuesday March 7, 2000 at her home in Richfield, Utah with her family at her side.
She was the second child of 7 children. She was born on July 9, 1929 in Aurora, Utah, to Wilford Otto and Ruby Althea Curtis Taylor.
She was married to LaMar Grant Thurston June 9, 1945 in Richfield, Utah. He died January 3, 1953. Married to Vernon Carnell Hatch May 24, 1954 in Las Vegas, Nevada and later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on 23 May 1975.
LaVern was a great mother and wife. She believed in the importance of family. The stroke suffered in 1993 drew her family nearer and dearer to her.
She never think herself first, but she loved to help and share with others.
Before the stroke, she enjoyed gardening, crocheting and quilting. She loved to spend time in the mountains. She was the sportswoman in fishing and hunting that she loved to go out. She became active LDS Church and served faithful in the Relief Society, and was the Temple van coordinator for a time. She worked with her husband as the ward financial clerk.
She is survived by her husband Carnell, and daughter Marsha LaVern Thurston, both of Richfield, Utah; 4 sisters and two brothers: Boneta (Roy) Hadden and Bernell Taylor, both West Valley City, Utah; Carol Daley, Sandy, Utah; Varona (LaVar) Roberts, Salt Lake City, Utah; Clifton (Kay) Taylor, Aurora, Utah; Loye Taylor, Rohnert Park, California. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband LaMar Grant Thurston.
Funeral services were held on Saturday March 11, 2000 at the Richfield 6th LDS Ward. Interment was in the Aurora Cemetery under direction of Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield, Utah.
