Martha Kathryn (Himes) Rosbrugh, 100, died Thursday,
September 28, 2006, at Your Home Assisted Care,
South Bend. She was born in Nappanee, Ind.,
Christmas Eve, December 24, 1905, to Nettie and Edrie Himes. She graduated from Nappanee High School in 1923. In 1928, she was married to her high school sweetheart, Paul Coppes Rosbrugh. Their three children were born between 1931 and 1937 in Nappanee. In 1940, the family moved to South Bend where she lived until her death.

For many years she worked as a social services
secretary in this area. She was an accomplished
pianist and organist, very active in her church, receiving a special award from UMW in recognition of her many acts of kindness and assistance to others.

She is survived by her son, Richard Paul Rosbrugh and his wife, Shirley, of South Bend; her daughter, Martha Jean Petrie and her husband, Walter, of Starkville, MS; eight grandchildren, William, Michael and Timothy
Rosbrugh, Beth P. Windsor, Anne P. Collord, Cherylyn P. Osthagen, Lora P. Hanson and Gweneth Petrie; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Peg Hoffer of Nappanee; and a nephew, James Himes of Plano, Texas.

Family members preceding her in death are her
husband; a son, William E. Rosbrugh; her parents and two brothers, LaMar and Lowell Himes.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to either the Grace United Methodist Church Music Department, 3012 S. Twyckenham Drive, South Bend, IN 46614; or to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.

Friends may visit from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at McGann Hay, Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Drive. Funeral services will be held at noon, Monday October 2, in Grace United Methodist Church. Friends are welcome to view Martha beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will be at South Union Cemetery on County Road 50, near Nappanee, Ind., following the services.
