Port of Cumana Venezuela:
Cumana March 25th 1853
Dear Parents it is with extreme pleasure that I embrace this opportunity to write you a few lines to let you know how I am getting along. I am well and in good health and I hope that you are the same. We are in Cumana and have got 30 bbls of Oil and hope we shall get some more. We are going to the western ground as soon as we have done watering and painting. We have first rate times here with the Spanish girls. The captain of the port has got 5 daughters and good looking ones to. I hope by the time we get home the house will be in good order. Tell David and Rebecca to keep their right eye open and give them my love. I expect the baby will forget me by this time. Send my love to George and Pheby and Mary Ellen. Tell Pheby I am getting along first rate. We shall be to next fall if nothing happens. We expect to change mates with the September of Boston. We have been to the Gulf of Para and the Gulf of Cararco. Give my love to Charles and Laura and tell her I look at her miniature every week. John and Mr. Potter send their best respects to you. Give my love to all inquiring friends. And let them that don't like me to kiss my foot and go to bugary. I wrote this in haste as we are watering. Send all the letters you can. I have not got one but expect to in Fayal. So good by at present.

This from your son in heart and hand,
Frederick P. Mosher
