Sylvia is survived by her husband of 59 years, Greg, sons, Michael Abeyta and Luis Abeyta and his wife, Cyndie, grandchildren, Francisco, Angela and Maria Abeyta and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws who loved her dearly.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Abeyta, her siblings, Gricelda Baca, Guadalupe Lucero, Ruth Gonzáles, Ramon Baca, Johnnie Baca and Gregorio Baca.
Sylvia was a schoolteacher in Socorro County before her marriage. Sylvia and Greg lived in Peralta for 16 years before moving to Albuquerque in 1978. Sylvia was always very active with the Catholic Church.
Rosary will be recited on Sunday, October 8, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. at French Mortuary Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Mass of the Resurrection will be on Monday, October 9, 2006 at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, Claremont and Vermont Streets, with Rev. Bennett J. Voorhies, celebrant. Entombment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 8, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. until the Rosary at French Mortuary Lomas Chapel. Pallbearers will be Larry Trujillo, Max Baca, Ramon Baca, David Baumann, Andrew Salas and Jerry Abeyta.
