Esther Mary Kysh Marsac, 92, of Nacogdoches passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2012. She was born May 19, 1920, in Hollywood, California, and was the daughter of the late Edward Battiscombe Kysh and Edith Foster Kysh. She attended Hollywood High School. Her father was an executive vice-president for Southern Pacific Railroad and she worked for Southern Pacific in her early years. Esther Mary's mother was an interior designer in Hollywood. She took her mother's career and became a successful designer in Houston. She was a devout member of St. John the Divine Episcopal Church in Houston. Esther Mary was an avid collector of miniature dolls and doll houses. She deployed her skills as an interior designer and her homes were often displayed in magazines and journals. She was a founding member of Glencove Garden Club and loved to garden. Esther Mary gave birth to three children but was a surrogate mom to many. She predeceased by her husband, John Franklin Marsac; and her son, John Edward Marsac. Esther Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Edith Marsac-Brandon and Roland Brandon; daughter-in-law, Martha Gunn Lurie, widow of John Edward Marsac; grandchildren, Ian David Marsac, Danielle Lurie, Mary Vivian Marsac, John Michael Marsac, Melissa Ann Marsac, and Laurel Marsac; and a great-granddaughter, Elise Marsac. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, 5400 North St. in Nacogdoches, with Father Howard Castleberry officiating. Interment will be in Old North Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ian David Marsac, John J. Buffa, Oly Edmiston, Matthew Marder, Ron Coleman, and Eddie Carter.
