Katharine R. (Carlson) Klahold, Age 98, died Sunday, June 13, 2004 at 3:07 p.m. at The Brunswick at Longstown, York, PA. She was the wife of the late Gerhart Carl Klahold Sr. Born March 16, 1906 in Harrisburg, PA, to Sarah Jane (Arnold) Carlson and Emory Dewitt Kawel. Stepfather William F. Carlson. She retired from York Hospital as a registered nurse at the age of 65. She continued to work at the hospital until the age of 69 as the Nurse in Charge of the new Outpatient Surgery Department. Mrs. Klahold was the oldest member of Saint John Lutheran Church, York, PA and was a 1926 graduate of York Hospital School of Nursing. She is survived by three sons, David A. Klahold of York, PA, J. Kenneth Klahold of Hellam Twp, York, PA and Philip L. Klahold of Bethel, PA.; a daughter, Flo E. Siegfried of Hellam Twp, York, PA; 36 grandchildren; 63 greatgrandchildren; and one greatgreat-grandson. She was preceded in death by four sons, Gerhart C. Klahold, Jr., Frederick W. Klahold, Walter E. Klahold, and Lester E. Klahold. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Saint John Lutheran Church, 2580 Mount Rose Ave., York, PA. The Rev. Patrick J. Cox, her pastor, and the Rev. George R. Naumann, Pastor Emeritus of her church, will officiate. Burial will be in Canadochly Cemetery. Viewings will be held Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Etzweiler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York, PA and Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.
