Allan Eugene Bates, 71, of Kimberly, died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 3, 1932, in Twin Falls, the son of Ormus Merritt and Esther Glyllenswan Bates. He was reared and attended schools in Twin Falls and graduated from Twin Falls High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Patricia A. Glenn on March 31, 1953, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Mr. Bates worked as a bookkeeper for many years, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed spending time gardening.
He is survived by four children, Derald O. "Karolyn" Bates of Dilworth, Minn.; Lisa LaMar Kent of Corinne, Utah; M. Annette Grove of Brigham City, Utah; Charlotte Rick Nielsen of Kuna, Idaho; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, June 24, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at White Mortuary, "Chapel by the Park."
