St. Martinville – Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 24, 2008, at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Joseph Herbert Alexander, 59, who passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at his residence. Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery.
Fr. Aaron Melancon officiated at the funeral Mass.
Joseph enjoyed dancing and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy B. Alexander of St. Martinville; three sons, Cornel Alexander and Dwayne Alexander, both of St. Martinville, and Jerry Alexander and his wife Sarah of Breaux Bridge; his mother, Margaret D. Alexander of St. Martinville; one brother, Russell Alexander of St. Martinville; one sister, Rose Champ and her husband Willie of St. Martinville; three grandchildren, Cordell Phillips, Cedric Cole and Shaterral Alexander; two aunts, Melvinia Savoy of New Orleans and Dorothy Handy of St. Martinville; and two uncles, Walter Alexander Jr. and Joseph Davis, both of St. Martinville.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willis Alexander; his paternal grandparents, Eunice Etienne Alexander and Walter Alexander Sr.; and his maternal grandparents, Margaret Savoy Davis and Valaire Davis.
