Doris A. Coppinger, 87, of Tecumseh, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012, in Tecumseh.
She was born Aug. 4, 1924, to Alfred and Alta (Nash) Pound in Bristow.
Doris was raised and attended school in Bristow.
She married William "Henry" Coppinger on Dec. 19, 1939, in Bristow, and he preceded her in death Dec. 14, 2002.
Doris began their family in Bristow. Her husband, Henry, worked in the oil field and they moved around frequently, living in Wagoner, Pryor, Cushing, Pawnee, Duncan, and settling in Tecumseh in 1958 where she has since lived.
Along with her husband, they served as pastors of churches in Duncan and Tecumseh. She worked at Central Oklahoma Juvenile Center as house parent for many years.
Doris was a member of the Full Gospel Church of Tecumseh, a 48-year member of The Order of Eastern Star, Tecumseh Chapter No. 30.
She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and grandchildren; they were the focal point of her life. Doris was a woman of great faith and a Prayer Warrior.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rev. William Coppinger; brother, Edward Pound; and sister, Melva Ramsey.
Doris is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Martha Sneed and Mary and Fred Zimmerman, of Tecumseh; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Maxine Pound, of Bristow; grandchildren, Gina Wylie, David and Christina Qualls, and Jarrod and Shayla Gentry; great-grandchildren, Ashley Qualls, Brett Wylie, Mekayla Gentry and Melena Gentry; and many friends and extended family.
The family wishes to thank Angelic Hospice, Sunset Estates, and their staff for the loving care that was given to Doris.
