John Rosenberry Merrell/Merrill was the youngest of seven children born to Benjamin S. Merrell and Mary Hester Wagner. He was my husband's second great-grandfather.
He married Mary Ann Mears on November 4, 1863 in Columbia County, Pennsylvania. They were the parents of 11 children:

John moved to California to be closer to his daughters after Mary Ann died in 1902. My husband descends from John and Mary Ann's son, Grant.
