JONESPORT- Marilyn Lucille Smith, 82, passed away peacefully Feb. 10, 2010, at Down East Community Hospital in Machas. She was born in Jonesport on Feb. 28, 1927, the daughter of Gladys Kirby and Leon Roscoe Smith, Sr. Marilyn was a graduate of Jonesport High School, class of 1946. She was a member of Sawyer Memorial Congregational Church and a life member of Rumery Chapter #46, Order of Eastern Star in Jonesport. Affectionately known as "Aunt Sister," she was a devoted daughter and delighted in being with family and friends. She enjoyed many winters in Florida, where she spent her time reading, making crafts and helping Nana and Gramp entertain any family members who were fortunate enough to visit.
She was predeceased by her mother in 1998; her father in 1938; her sister Lucille in 1917 and her brother Robert in 1997. She is survived by two brothers, Raymond Smith and his wife Barbara, and Leon Smith Jr. and his wife Angelena, all of West Jonesport, as well as several nieces and nephews and their families.
Funeral services were held at Sawyer Memorial Congregational Church. Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.
