HARRISON H. "HARRY" BIRKHEAD
Harrison was the son of Richard Ward Birkhead and his second wife Barbara Elder Peavler.

He married Vera Lenora Brown, daughter of Lenora C (Hobbs) and Zachariah T Brown. She was born on 1 Dec 1894 in Nebraska and died on 5 Jul 1921 in Ina, Jefferson County, Illinolis at the age of 26, more than likely from complications due to the birth of her twin daughters. She was buried in Hope Cemetery, Ina, Jefferson County, Illinois.

In the 1920 census the family is living in Moores Prairie Township located in Jefferson County, IL. - They are listed as FAM #53 Father Harrison 31, born IL, Father born Virginia, Mother Tennessee, Farmer; Mother Vera L 25, b.Nebraska, Father born Wisconsin, Mother Nebraska; Sons: Richard H 2yrs 1mo, b.IL; Donald H 1yr 11mos, b.IL also living with them is Grandma Barbara (Harrison's mother) age 70, widow, b. Tennessee, Father born Tennessee, Mother North Carolina.

Harrison and Vera had four children; Donald H
b.1918 – d.2009; Richard Harry b.1917, and twin daughters Hazel and Helen Birkhead who were born just a few months before their mothers death. After Vera passed away Harrison's brother James and his wife Flora took in and raised 1 year old Donald and 3 year old Richard. Vera's sister; Zetta and her husband Louie Trimpe raised the twins possibly adopting them as Hazel and Helen Trimpe age 9 born IL. in the 1930 census and as Hazel and Helen Trimpe, students, age 17 in the 1936 phone & address directory.
