James A. Billington, 74, co-owner of a former Overland construction company, died Friday of emphysema at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Mo.
Mr. Billington, of Kearney, Mo, was c0-owner of the old C.J. Billington & Sons Concrete Construction Co. His father started the Overland business in the 1930s together with his three sons. Mr. Billington closed the business in 1974 when he retired.
From 1950 to 1965, Mr. Billington served on the Ritenour School Board. He also was active in the Overland Lions Club, and was a charter member and past master of the Overland Masonic Lodge.
Visitation will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Fry Funeral Home in Kearney, with a Masonic service at 8 p.m. Burial will be Tuesday in Fairview Cemetery in Kearney.
Among the survivors are his wife, Mabel Billington; a daughter, Bonnie Rivard of Kearney; a sister, Helen Barrett of Troy, Mo; and two granddaughters.
