Gilbert E. Breakiron, 81, of Connellsville (Bullskin Township) died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at his home. He was born April 4, 1929, in Westmoreland County, a son of the late Braden and Jennie Longanecker Breakiron. Gilbert was retired from Anchor Hocking Glass, where he was employed for 39 years. He also raised beef cows. He was a member and former fire chief for 12 years of the Bullskin Township Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Laura "Sissy" Holt Breakiron; five children, Daniel Breakiron and his wife, Sandra, of Elizabeth, Kathleen Breakiron, at home, Cheryl Halle and her husband, Eric, of Canada, Vicki Marks and her husband, David, of Connellsville, Randy Breakiron and his wife, Carrie, of Connellsville, and a grandson whom he raised as a son, Brad Breakiron and his wife, Betty Jo; his grandchildren, Kelli Windwood and her husband, Joel, Amy Carbonara and her husband, Mark, Corey Breakiron, Rusty Matich and his wife, Leah Ann, David Anderson, Susan Anderson and Barry Anderson; his great- grandchildren, Cole Breakiron, Nicki Woods, Andrea Woods, Susan Anderson, Ryan Matich and Sarah Matich; one brother, Robert Breakiron, of Texas; and one sister Eva Gandy, of Acme. Family and friends will be received from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Rob Allison officiating. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.
