NORTH ADAMS - George Henry McConnell, 65, of 82 Greylock Ave. died last night at his home.
A North Adams native, he was a graduate of Drury High School. He served overseas in World War II.
He was employed by the North Adams Post Office for 35 years as a letter carrier until his retirement several years ago.
Mr. McConnell was a communicant of the Our Lady of Incarnation Church and a member of the American Legion and the National Association of Letter Carriers.
He leaves his wife, the former Elizabeth Stratton; a son, Bruce of Jamaica Plains; two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Lussier of this city and Mrs. Patricia Franz of Wiscasset, Maine; two brothers, John McConnell of North Adams and Lawrence McConnell of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 8:15 am tomorrow at the Flynn & Dagnell-Montagna Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at Our Lady of Incarnation Church. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart Fund or the church has been suggested by the family.
