Irene Gómez, age 92, peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2009.
Irene is survived by her children, Cathy Maestas, Richard Maestas and his wife, Arlene, Mary Gallegos, Sally Perry, Julia Sandoval and her husband, Eloy, special grandson, Larry Martínez and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to say a special thank you to her caregiver Victoria Hernández.
Irene was preceded in death by her first husband, Bob Maestas and second husband, Fred Gómez, daughter, Cecilia B. Martínez and her husband, Lawrence, brothers, Joe Martínez, Philip Martínez, Louie Martínez, Albert Martínez and Steve Martínez, sisters, Marcella Felts and Mercedes Lueras, parents, Lucy and Ignacio Martínez.
Irene was a member of the San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church, Blue Army, Altar Society and Sacred Heart League.
A Rosary will be recited on Monday, March 23, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church, 2005 North Plaza NW. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, with Mass time pending, also at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church, followed by interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Irene to San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church, 2005 North Plaza NW, Albuquerque, NM 87104 or to the Good Shepherd, 218 Iron St. SW, Albuquerque, NM.
