Ethel Mae Kmetz went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 8, 1999. She was born Jan. 29, 1925, in Coatesville, Pa., the daughter of the late Harvey and Anna Mulvaney.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Richard (Dick) J. Kmetz Sr.; daughter, Judy Vick, and her husband, Warren, of Poquoson; son, Richard J. Kmetz Jr., and his wife, Valerie, of Richmond; four grandchildren, Gregg Vick of Newport News, Larren Beacham of Poquoson and Joey and Jeffrey Kmetz of Richmond; four great-grandchildren, Christopher and Jacob Beacham of Poquoson and Brandon and Megan Vick of Newport News; one brother, Raymond Mulvaney of Coatesville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Christopher Vick.

During their long marriage, Dick and Ethel lived in Camp LeJeune, N.C.; Baltimore, Md.; Coatesville, Chambersburg and Pottstown, Pa.; Bridgeton, N.J.; Newport News, Va.; Columbia, S.C.; Biloxi, Mo.; and for the past 21 years, Richmond. Ethel touched the lives of so many and leaves behind friends in each and every place. She was a member of Grove Avenue Baptist Church.

Mrs. Kmetz rests at the Parham Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Road, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Grove Avenue Baptist Church. Interment will be held in Mount Vernon Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of Grove Avenue Baptist Church.
