Death notice (Macon (MO) Chronicle-Herald, July 19, 1928)- Tom Bohannon, who has been seriously ill at the home of his niece, Mrs. Linzy Miles for sometime, died July 17th. He had been in ill health due to old age for sometime. He was 85 years old. Funeral services were conducted at the grave at the old family burying ground, known as Shakerag cemetery July 18. A large crowd gathered to pay their respects to Uncle Tom as he was familiarly called. Since the death of his sister with whom he had lived, he remained at his old home until his last illness made it necessary for him to be moved to the home of his niece where all that was possible was done for him. He was the last of a large family, and was a highly respected citizen of this community and will be greatly missed by his many friends. There will be services at Graves Chapel Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. O. L. Angel of Macon.

Obituary (Clarence (MO) Independent Courier, July 24, 1928)- Thomas Bohannon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bohannon, was born in Kentucky Sept. 1, 1843. He came to Missouri when quite young and settled on the old home place where he spent the rest of his life until three months ago he went to spend his last days at the home of his niece, Mrs. Evaline Miles. His parents, four brothers and three sisters preceded him in death, namely: Rob, Jim, Greene, John Liza, Lucy and Palina. He departed this life July 17, 1928 at the age of 85 years. He will be greatly missed by his neighbors and friends.
