She was born on 10/17/1876, a daughter of Sanford Whittemore and Amanda Chittenden Hulburd.
She was a graduate of the Brasher and Stockholm High School, Cornell University, and the New York State Library
School in Albany. She taught in high schools before entering the library field. She was on the library staff of the State University of Illinois and for 14 years before retiring was head cataloguer at Syracuse University.
Her later life was spent at the family home in Brasher Falls in the summer and in Florida during the winter.
Surviving was a niece, Mrs. Edward. (Francine) Herthum, Rome, N.Y., and cousins, Miss Cordelia Ball, Fairhaven, VT; Miss Hope Grant and Floyd Grant, both of White Plains, New York.
