In 1972, she finished her high school education and received her GED. On September 25, 1949 she married her lifelong partner Clarence DeMarr Chandler. Together they raised five children. The life they had was a rare thing, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2009. Maxine was accomplished at many things, most of which she taught herself to do. Among her hobbies and skills were oil painting, sewing, piano playing and cake decorating. She was a Sunday school teacher in earlier years and often participated in "Good News Clubs". It was her desire that everyone would share her faith in God. She often said that He was her best friend. She was a member of the Blue Mt. Old Time Fiddlers Association. She attended the Union Baptist Church. She was a beloved "Hen" to her fellow Hens who dined with her regularly. Maxine is survived by a daughter in law, Deborah Chandler, son Randy Chandler and his wife Joni, daughter Linda Hansen and her husband Bill, daughter Merri Lee Williams and her husband Jason, and a son Jim Chandler and his wife Kim, sister Gladys McCoy, 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Her family will all agree that she was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She loved the Lord with all her heart. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Donations can be made to Heidi Ho Preschool and Kindergarten. It was her desire that children could go to school and learn about Jesus everyday.
