Adam "Doc" Dockter, 79, 319 8th Street NE. Apt. 5, Kenmare, ND, died Saturday, January 3, 2004 at his home.

He was born on March 6, 1924, in Venturia, ND, the son of Gottlieb and Rosina (Thurn) Dockter. He attended grade school in Venturia and worked on the family farmstead until he entered the service. Adam entered the United States Army on October 25, 1945, serving during World War II. He was honorably discharged on December 7, 1946.

Adam married Mavis Joachim on April 24, 1951, in Venturia. In 1959, the couple made their home in Kenmare where they raised their seven children. Adam worked on the Oil Rigs until the mid 1960's. He then worked at the Kenmare Laundry and later for Harris Graveling and Construction, where he enjoyed driving truck until 1987, when retired. After his retirement Adam enjoyed fishing, and traveling to see his children, grandchildren and friends. Adam was also blessed with two great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare and the Kenmare American Legion.

Survivors: wife, Mavis; Kenmare; daughters, Karen (Craig) Thompson, Wilton, ND, Shirley (Tom) Beuchler, Bellevue, MI, Brenda (Joe) Gust, Elk River, MN, Shelly, (Roger) Ness, Kenmare, and Julie (George) Andres, St. Paul, MN; sons, Duane (Laurie) Dockter, Kenmare, and Kortney (Stephanie) Dockter, Dacono, CO; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Esther Bauman, and brother, Chris Dockter, both of Ashley, ND; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant daughter, five brothers, Ferdie, Ephraim, Walter, Art and Andy Dockter and one sister, Frieda Stroh.

Funeral Service: Thursday, January 8, 2004, at 1 p.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare.

Visitation: Wednesday, January 7, 2004, from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson funeral Home, Kenmare.

Burial: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare. Burial will take place in the spring of 2004.
