OBITUARY:
ADRIAN – Weldon A. Beebe, age 92 of Adrian, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009 at his home.
Weldon was born in Adrian, Michigan on January 7, 1917 to Charles and Mabel (Wells) Beebe. He graduated from Adrian High School with the Class of 1935.
On September 7, 1941, he married Alice Wiggins at the Methodist Church in Adrian. He owned and operated City Cartage of Adrian.
Weldon was an active member of the Rome Grange for 77 years. He was a charter member of the River Raisin chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was also a member of the Lenawee County Historical Society and the Maple City Men's Garden Club.
Weldon enjoyed fishing at his cottage at Meadow Lake. After retiring he and Alice traveled with their Airstream and later traveled extensively throughout the world. He enjoyed deer hunting and playing cards with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Alice of 67 years; daughters, Barbara (Ross) Vincent of Onsted, and Brenda (Juergen) Rosenberg of North Vancouver, BC, Canada; five grandchildren, Laura (Jon) Harris, James and David VanEtten, Eric and Eleanor Rosenberg; and three great grandchildren, Justin, Alex and Alycia Drwencke. Also surviving is a brother, Donald (Evelyn) Beebe of Adrian and a sister-in-law, Donna Beebe of Hillsdale.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, Wells Beebe, and older brother, Wayne Beebe.
The funeral service for Weldon will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Wagley Funeral Home with Rev. Phyllis Leeth officiating. Burial will follow at East Rome Cemetery. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Contributions in memory of Weldon may be made to Hospice of Lenawee.
