Pita, of Santa Fe, was predeceased by her parents Fedelia and Jose Mendoza; brothers: Frank Mendoza, Arthur Mendoza, and Joe Mendoza; and sister Helen Rael.
On December 1, 1945, Pita married Mariano Ortega, whom she was survived by. She was also survived by her children: Marian Ortega, Gloria Ortega (David Smith), Anna Ortega, Edward Ortega (wife Julie), Phillip Ortega, and Marta Ortega; 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; sister Rosina Walsh; brother Louis Mendoza; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A Rosary was recited on October 5, 2011 at St. Anne's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial was on October 6, 2011 also St. Anne's Catholic Church. Interment followed at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
